About The Role In partnership with Dementia UK, we are looking to add to our team of successful and highly-valued Admiral Nurses and are now looking to appoint an Admiral Nurse to be based in the

Fife & Perthshire

area on a part-time basis. This role would require regular travel within the Fife and Perthshire area of Scotland, and it would benefit the candidate to be in close proximity to this area. As part of this role, there may be times where you are required to attend training and meetings within our hubs around the UK. Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with families who are caring for a loved one living with dementia who have complex needs. As an Admiral Nurse, you will provide specialist one-to-one support, guidance, and practical solutions for families, alongside supporting best practice and providing role modeling. We are looking for someone who has the compassion, focus, and desire to become real ambassadors for dementia care. Based at home with regular travel, you will provide a peripatetic service, visiting people in their homes and community settings. The successful candidate will support the Lead Admiral Nurse in providing this service. Requirements You will be a

RMN or RGN (with an accredited dementia qualification)

and have had a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in dementia care. You will have experience working in a community setting providing person-centered dementia care and advocacy for this client group. You will work with and support families and carers of people living with dementia, using a range of interventions to help people live positively with the condition and develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships. Working collaboratively with other professionals, Admiral Nurses seek to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers. In return, we offer a competitive salary, employee assistance programme, and ongoing professional development. Your professional development will be additionally supported by Dementia UK's comprehensive practice development framework. One of our Admiral nurses and their experience of joining RBL. “I became an Admiral Nurse with the RBL in 2016. I had worked in OPMH in the NHS for 20 years. Becoming an Admiral Nurse was the best thing I have ever done in my career. I have the freedom to work creatively with Carers and people living with dementia, helping them to meet identified needs. I was worried initially having not worked specifically with service men and women previously, but soon became aware that this is something you learn about as you engage with the carers and beneficiaries, and the wider RBL family. It is truly rewarding.

As a team, we do cover a large area; however, I manage my own caseload and I work from home, which enables me to be efficient with my time. Our manager works as part of the team and is very supportive. Full IT support is also on hand. We meet up as a team regularly, both face to face and via technology. As Admiral Nurses, we all receive excellent supervision – via RBL and DUK, and a variety of training and development opportunities. We also have a good pension scheme and rewards and benefits package. I can honestly say I have never looked back and would not want to be doing anything else. “ For more detailed information about the role, please see our Vacancy Information Pack attached to our direct advert.

RBL is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation, reflecting the diversity of the armed forces community and of wider society. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and personal characteristics. Interview Dates:

24th January 2025 We may close this vacancy early if we believe we have enough strong applications to be able to successfully fill the role(s). Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. If you require the job advert or job description in an alternative format, please contact 0808 802 8080.
