**This vacancy is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1)** About the role: As a DA Practitioner, you will be based at the police station where you will be the first point of contact from Panahghar, providing a crisis response to those who have experienced domestic abuse in partnership with Coventry Police. In this pivotal role, you will provide immediate advice, guidance, safety planning, and support to those affected by domestic abuse through trauma-informed practice. You should be able to hit the ground running and work within a fast-paced environment. You will provide practical and emotional support in accordance with Panahghar’s ethos. Working with key stakeholders such as Police staff and other agencies, you will identify individuals suitable for referral to the project and provide feedback to the officer and PPU regarding the outcome of your assessments, including any recommendations or actions taken during the crisis. You will complete detailed assessments of individuals who meet the threshold criteria, identifying support needs and how these can be addressed within set time periods. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role, along with being a fantastic team player. You must be fluent in at least one main BME language. You should have experience in using databases and be IT savvy to ensure your casework records are accurately recorded and kept up to date using Microsoft applications. To be successful in this role, you will need experience working with BME communities experiencing domestic violence and with Black and Ethnic Minority Communities. You will recognize, respect, and address the needs of those facing barriers when seeking help, including individuals from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, LGBT communities, disabled people, those with complex needs, and other hard-to-reach groups. Experience in a social care/welfare setting and knowledge of safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the well-being of children and vulnerable adults is required. Ideally, you will be qualified at degree level or have equivalent experience working with vulnerable people, especially women and children. You should have an in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Children’s Act, Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act, Forced Marriages (Civil Protection) Act 2007, and the new Domestic Abuse Bill. As you will be in a standalone role, you must be self-motivated, able to work autonomously, and proficient at using your initiative. You will need a current driving license, access to a vehicle with business insurance, and a clear DBS, as well as being prepared to undergo additional police checks due to your location at the police station.
