Are you looking for an exciting SENDCO career within an outstanding nursery on a secondary school site? Then we have the opportunity for you... To be aware of the settings responsibilities according to the SEND Code of Practice and ensure these are incorporated in the daily practice. Early identification and support of children with SEND. Following the graduated approach and implementing advice and strategies to improve children’s outcomes. Ensure all practitioners in the setting understand their responsibilities to children with SEN and the setting’s approach to identifying and meeting SEN. Advise and support colleagues. Ensure parents are closely involved throughout and that their insights inform action taken by the setting. Liaise with professionals or agencies beyond the setting, and ensure advice given by professionals is incorporated into the setting planning. Complete all necessary paperwork, referral reports, etc., in a timely and effective way. Organise and/or attend professional/parental meetings, including SEND Support plan meetings, transition meetings, etc. Continue continuous professional development through training and encourage staff to attend appropriate training. Ensure awareness of any changes to legislation regarding SEND. To ensure that all children with SEND have an up-to-date Passport to Success or Health and Care plan (EHCP) in place and that these are reviewed regularly with achievable targets set. To take lead in managing the provision for all SEND children. Follow all confidentiality and data protection rights. To promote the ethos of inclusive practice within the setting. To attend SENCO inclusion meetings and remain up to date on new developments. Support staff with additional observations and assessments of children’s learning and development and ensure differentiated planning meets the needs of that child.
