An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Stroke Services for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team for a fixed term, to bolster the current delivery of occupational therapy to stroke survivors in North East Essex.

The Community Stroke service provides Early Supported Discharge as well as support for people who have a new therapeutic need some time after their stroke. This is in line with the Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS) model providing a needs-based service.

The role will join our multidisciplinary team which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists, as well as an experienced team of Associate and Assistant practitioners.

It is essential that you are a car driver with access to a vehicle for work as you will be expected to travel across the North East Essex area.

Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.

Main duties of the job

The key objectives for this post are to provide high quality, safe, evidence-based and goal-focused rehabilitation, supporting stroke survivors to become experts in their own care and remain in their own homes and to provide holistic assessment specialist occupational therapy intervention.

Clear clinical reasoning, good assessment and intervention skills, and experience in neuro/stroke care are essential. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical skills and be actively involved in service development.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

Good theoretical and practical knowledge of a broad range of assessments including specialist relevant to the specialist care group and the relative benefits of each. Good knowledge of a range of specialist therapeutic interventions relevant to the care group including the relative benefits of each and the comparative outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC Professional knowledge and Skills acquired through a combination of formal training, short courses and experience to degree level or equivalent. Relevant post qualification training through short courses and/or further study and experience for example splinting and injections, working towards post graduate level of study. Evidence of on-going CPD

Desirable

Registered member of Chartered Society of Occupational Therapy Recognised registered qualification and further courses and experience relevant to role

Experience

Proven experience within the relevant care group
