To provide cleaning and tidying services throughout the Home to the required standards and rules of the Home and within the Christian ethos of the Council for Social Witness. DUTIES
To clean and tidy toilets. To clean and tidy bathrooms. To clean and tidy bedrooms. To clean and tidy corridors. To clean and tidy sitting rooms. To clean and tidy offices, treatment rooms, etc. To take rubbish to bins. To make beds as required. To help in the kitchen as required at busy times. To work in the laundry when required. To carry out any other reasonable duty as required by the management of the Home, which is necessary for the support and well-being of the residents. STAFF MUST USE THE EQUIPMENT PROVIDED IN THE CARRYING OUT OF THEIR DUTIES. In carrying out the duties of Housekeeper, the person will require the following: To be in sympathy with the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. To have integrity, honesty, and patience. To have an understanding of the needs of the elderly in a nursing/residential home situation. To have an even temperament. To have an ability to work as a member of the caring team. To have an ability to treat residents as individuals and tolerate their likes and dislikes. To respect the authority and direction of the senior members of Staff in the Home. 1. QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential: Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people. Awareness of health and safety practices within a working and residential environment. 2. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Desirable: Experience of working with older people. Experience of cleaning outside of the domestic setting. 3. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Essential: To have integrity, honesty, patience, and an even temperament. To have the ability to work on own initiative. To have the ability to treat all matters confidentially. To have respect for the authority and direction of the management and supervision of the Home. To have the ability to work as a member of a caring team. 4. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential: Health – such as to allow for attendance reliability and work proficiency. Appearance – personal dress and presentation must meet Health & Hygiene standards. 5. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential: Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home. Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Skills:
