This is a key role where you will create information governance strategy, policy, and help to shape procedure. Your work will make a real impact by ensuring that privacy legislation is adhered to, through providing expert guidance on data protection matters as well as drafting and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) as well as Information Sharing and Processing Agreements. You will assist in relation to advising on Council project work which can include DPIAs, drafting Information Processing and Sharing Agreements as well as Privacy Notices. About You To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have: Relevant and demonstrable experience working in a similar position to gain advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge in all aspects of information governance legislative requirements An extensive and in-depth knowledge of DPA 2018 and, UK GDPR FOI & EIR legislation High level of literacy and numeracy skills for the development of policies, procedures, communications, training courses, report writing and self-assessment audits Experience of managing and implementing projects working to deadlines Knowledge of and understanding of the workings of the Information Commissioner's Office in terms of its role, the sanctions it can apply etc. Ability to understand and carefully analyse complex information and adjudicate on its best outcome for the Council so as to ensure legislative compliance Educated at degree level or equivalent Legal qualification or Data Protection Qualification - e.g. LLB or Certificate in Data Protection/the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) Next Steps The closing date for this vacancy is at midnight on 20 January 2025.
