Job Description

You will be required to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The young people you are supporting come from a variety of different backgrounds which make them very vulnerable and cautious of new relationships. As a youth support officer, it will be essential that you work on building relationships with the young people in the school by being a mentor to them and understanding how to communicate with them in the most effective way.

This role requires someone who is resilient and looking for an opportunity to work within alternative education. The reason alternative education is provided is to offer education relevant to the requirements that the young people need for their life outside of school. For example, many vocational lessons are adopted to provide a practical approach to jobs in the future. Additionally, there is also an opportunity for the young people to delve into their hobbies and interests to spark a positive relationship between them and education.

This opportunity is very exciting as it will not only give you the chance to work with these incredible young people, but will also enhance your knowledge and understanding for your future in education as a whole.

Requirements

As you will be supporting vulnerable young people, we require applicants with experience in some capacity for us to then train up over the summer to mold them into the perfect individual. For example, if you have a background in Sports, Care, or Youth Support and are looking to transfer your skills, we can show you how this can transfer over as well as enhancing this with programs we have available over the summer holidays.

The ideal candidate will also require the following: ( We can help you obtain the below as part of the registration process)

Enhanced DBS on the update service

Education Workforce Regulation registration (EWC)

Level 2 as a minimum for Safeguarding for Children and vulnerable people

2 references which cover a 24 month period (or equivalent)
