Your new role
Here at Hitachi Rail, we have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Junior Analyst. You will work closely with the Head of Integrated Delivery across all areas of the business (sales, finance, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, supply chain etc) to analyse and develop your understanding of the low volume high complexity manufacturing industry.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Carry out analysis of business data with the relevant functions to eliminate as far as possible % of error
Act as the point of contact for all cost model data inputs from each function
Working with the Head of Integrated Delivery to draft business process and policy documents
Support all sales opportunities and capture this information in the opportunities pipeline template
Support functions in the collection of their cost estimates for pipeline opportunities
Input data into the Hitachi delivery cost model
Attend cross functional meetings, take actions and chase individuals for progress
Develop understanding of Hitachi Rail’s product offering
Develop understanding of the end-to-end product delivery lifecycle
Travel to other Hitachi Rail’s sites across the UK and Europe to get “Hands On” with supporting the Integrated Delivery Teams Responsibilities.
About you
Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills with internal and external customers, stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers at all levels.
Strong business acumen; understands the key financial drivers and dynamics related to business growth and revenue goals
Ability to identify business needs, develop pragmatic solutions, and implement them
Strong verbal, written communication and influencing skills – articulate and comfortable communicating with staff at all levels up to global board members.
Able to negotiate and persuade using accurate data and factual information
Proven ability to challenge, convince and manage multiple stakeholders
Experience of working in a global matrixed organisation and proven ability to work effectively within a multi-cultural environment including peers, direct reports, senior and exec level management
Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, often at short notice
Excellent English language skills
Desirable Requirements:
Previous experience working with/in a Japanese culture/organisation
Japanese Language skills
Detailed understanding of the UK Rail Macro environment including its stakeholders e.g. ROSCO’s, TOCs, Railway equipment suppliers, Network Rail, Department for Transport
Knowledge of UK and European Approval and regulatory process
Knowledge of Train manufacturing process
Detailed knowledge of business information systems such as ERP, MRP, GPLM, SAP
General understanding of engineering principles and practices
Exposure to and understanding of lean tools (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma)
