What’s the job all about?

Join our Safeguarding team, and you’ll thrive as part of a settled, supportive team who always look out for one another. Because when we look after each other, we know we work better, and provide better outcomes for the children and young people who need us. So if you share our passion for helping children and young people grow and develop, we’ll do all we can to help you do the same. Right now, Ofsted rate us ‘Good’. But we believe we can do better than that. Let’s make that happen.

We work in a fast-paced, supportive environment where no two days are the same. Operating on a duty basis, we conduct all new s.47 investigations (child protection) and Social Work Assessments following referral. Our interventions are short-term, after which the child is moved to longer-term protection where a plan of help and support has been agreed. It’s a varied role, involving assessments, court work, child protection investigations, multi-agency meetings and case planning.

What skills and qualifications do I need?

You’ll need (or be close to completing) a degree in Social Work, a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW), Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or Certificate in Social Services (CSS), as well as experience working with children and families.

Opportunities are varied, and we encourage applications from social workers with specialist experiences, for example, domestic abuse and pre-birth assessments.

Above all, you’ll be the sort of person who wants to make a real, lasting and positive difference to children and young people. Because that’s what drives us, too.

Any absolute must-haves?

You MUST have relevant social work qualifications (see above), and be able to live and work in the UK. You will need to have a DBS check.

How will we care for you?

For us, care’s all about supporting you to do the best job you can, and to become the social worker you want to be. So expect proper support and supervision from passionate team managers, as well as a senior practitioner. It’s all about building positive relationships with friendly, helpful colleagues, and a wide range of external partners. It really is all about the team: we’re here to make sure you get the most from your career, not just today, but well into the future. We’re introducing hub working to cut down on unnecessary travel, reducing caseloads, and providing business support to reduce admin, allowing you to focus on what really matters.

As well as a whole host of excellent benefits, you’ll enjoy a £5,000 ‘welcome’ and ‘well done’ retention payment in gratitude for your commitment over two years. (Terms and conditions apply.)

28-33 days’ holiday, plus you can ‘buy’ more
