We’re looking for a creative and dynamic archivist to join our Collections Development Team at Lincolnshire County Council’s Culture Service. Join us and help to showcase Lincolnshire's rich heritage to the world. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team central to the delivery of collections management, development, care, access and engagement. You will work predominantly at Lincolnshire Archives with the opportunity to collaborate more widely across our unique portfolio of sites and collections including Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Museum, The Usher Gallery, Museum of Lincolnshire Life, Discover Stamford and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Centre.

About the role

With the opportunity to join our team at either Senior Officer or Officer level, your role will involve the implementation of collections management, development, care and access for our substantial archive collection. We are seeking an exceptional candidate with a postgraduate qualification in Archives & Records Management plus previous experience working with archive collections, and for Senior level applications substantial previous experience ideally within a local authority setting. The advertised positions are central to the delivery of our integrated collections development policy and newly developing strategies, and will contribute to the ongoing maintenance of relevant aspects of the Service's Accreditation Standards for Archives. You will be joining us at a pivotal moment with the opportunity to make significant impact across a number of development strands. Key priorities for both levels include the

maintenance of Archive Service Accreditation and Place of Deposit status,

including proper management in reference to legal frameworks including the

Public Records Act, Freedom of Information, Data Protection as well as Copyright and Intellectual Property Right Laws.

At a senior level this role involves additional leadership in strategic and business planning for the archive service, including matrix working with colleagues across the wider

Culture Service.

This level also involves the collation and use of performance data to inform change and associated budget monitoring. You will take a strong practical approach in day-to-day public operations including public facing services, repository duties and enquiry processes, reprographics and image reproductions. You will also be responsible for developing services by reviewing current systems and processes associated with day to day operations to ensure they are fit for purpose, meet customer needs and are in line with organisational requirements. About you

You will have line management and supervision

responsibility for Collections Development Assistants and volunteers.

Acting as lead advocate for archives you'll be responsible for inspiring and leading the wider team through change and exploring new ways to place our communities, visitors and collections at the heart of what we do. You will need to

be a confident communicator and effective at developing good working relationships

across the organisation, and with a wide range of stakeholders and partners. This will require

innovation, resilience and excellent problem-solving skills. Immediate priorities involve: Initiating a digital collections and preservation strategy (linked to Calm/Calmview) for both the preservation of and public access to our holdings. Undertaking collections review in line with the TNA’s Deaccessioning and Disposal Toolkit and fulfilling our cataloguing strategy to address a substantial backlog. Developing storage assessments and reconfiguration projects to help support future expansion requirements and redevelopment of archive storage. Increasing public engagement onsite, online and within our communities. What are we looking for? A postgraduate qualification in Archives & Records Management Archive experience including collections management, care and access (with significant local authority experience for Senior level applicants) A drive for developing innovative, user focused and engaging archives services An excellent understanding of collections management and associated digital development. Problem solving skills, stamina and a drive for transformation. Some hybrid working is available within this role. The successful applicant will be required to attend the work-base alongside the rest of the team usually 4 days a week to support day-to-day operation of the building including keyholding duties.
