You may have a construction, quantity surveying, or building surveying degree and have an interest in developing a career in this field and becoming chartered in time.
The role of the monitoring surveyor is to monitor the progress of the project and approve the drawdown of funds.
Drawing on your knowledge of building surveying, construction project management, and cost management, you will undertake a range of activities that reduce the short-term financial risk and seek to ensure the long-term benefit of the completed asset.
The role includes:
Project monitoring : Oversees the project's progress, including the plan, budget, and timescale. Risk assessment : Identifies potential risks and provides recommendations to manage or avoid them. Compliance : Ensures compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Data analysis : Analyzes data to identify potential risks and provides detailed reports. Collaboration : Collaborates with engineers, architects, and project managers to provide accurate measurements and data. Record keeping : Maintains up-to-date records and monitors data trends over time. Equipment calibration : Calibrates equipment as needed. Fund approval : Approves and certifies funds at each stage. Construction site visits : Visits the construction site regularly to check on progress and ensure safety. Paperwork : Ensures that all appropriate paperwork and certification is in place. You MUST have a full UK driving license as the sites that require visits can be nationwide. You must be very well organized with strong administrative skills. It is also essential that you are a team player as the team works well together and there is a close family feel culture within the business.
