The Governing Body is looking to appoint a new Chair of Governors from September 2025 to succeed Liz Buckley, who is stepping down in July 2025. It is hoped that the new Chair will be able to join the Governing Body in the spring of 2025 to allow some handover. Finton House was founded in 1987 as a charitable trust. It is a non-selective, co-educational preparatory school in South West London, which educates 340 pupils from the ages of 4 to 11. The founding principles of the School are that children joining Reception should not have to face the pressures of a competitive entry system, and of the provision of an inclusive environment where all children, including those with special educational needs, have the same opportunities. The School motto is “Open Hearts and Guiding Hands” which sums up the relationships which pupils and staff build with each other, the local community and the wider world. Finton House has a strong reputation for nurturing mixed ability cohorts of children to experience the joy of learning and develop their skills, knowledge and wellbeing. The School has a happy atmosphere, small class sizes and high teacher pupil ratio. The School is looking for an exceptional individual who understands the culture and ethos of Finton House and will strongly support the founding principles of the School and have a natural affinity with the School’s special needs pillar. If this is an opportunity that appeals to you and you believe that you have the required skills, experience and attributes to be a Chair of Governors, then we would be delighted to hear from you. Interested candidates are invited to contact RSAcademics by email to arrange a confidential discussion. Finton House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be asked to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service for an Enhanced Disclosure. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. The safeguarding responsibilities of this post are detailed in the candidate information brochure. RSAcademics is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in schools and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
