molecular biology or a related discipline

, proven ability to perform protein biochemistry, experience in biochemistry in plant systems is desirable but not essential, strong interest in understanding the molecular mechanism of meiotic recombination. Candidates should have experience in protein purification, characterisation of purified proteins by biochemical, biophysical, or structural techniques, molecular cloning of recombinant expression of proteins, proteomic analysis of protein-protein interactions, and an understanding of the biochemical process of DNA recombination. Job Description:

The successful applicant will study the biochemistry of meiotic recombination proteins in Arabidopsis. Key tasks include determining the activity, putative targets, and oligomerisation properties of the recombination machinery in Arabidopsis. This study is vital for addressing key, open questions relating to meiotic crossover formation, such as understanding the underlying biophysics behind recombination protein coarsening dynamics and how this might drive crossover designation.
