Building Surveyor (Asbestos)
to join their repairs and maintenance teams. This role will be based across a variety of sites in Portsmouth, including housing stock, schools, and commercial properties. Key Responsibilities: Conduct asbestos surveys and maintain asbestos registers for 15,000 housing properties and an extensive asset portfolio. Manage and update stock data, diagnose issues, and determine the appropriate response repairs. Support the delivery of asbestos management in line with the asbestos policy, including sampling, inspections, and re-inspections. Collaborate with specialist contractors for asbestos removal and ensure compliance with regulations. Provide expert advice on building-related legislation and health & safety standards. Key Requirements: Degree or HNC in Building/Construction or equivalent experience in a repairs and maintenance environment. Extensive experience in asbestos surveying with relevant qualifications (S301, P402). Knowledge of health and safety legislation, particularly asbestos and construction regulations. Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and the ability to analyse data and write reports. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients, contractors, and residents. Full driving license and the ability to travel across Portsmouth.
