Job Description Reporting to the Transport Depot Manager, the Transport Shift Manager will work collaboratively to ensure effective running of a busy transport operation, ensuring that Operational KPIs are met and that the operations are conducted strictly in accordance with legal requirements, whilst helping to formulate and deliver the short, medium, and long-term resource plans for your area.

Working hours:

4 on 4 off days, 06.00-18.00.

Salary:

£35,500 per annum.

Key Duties of Transport Shift Manager:

Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team ensuring compliance of all MWF activity and tasks including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilization of all drivers and equipment.

Responsible for owning, monitoring, and controlling the driver de-briefing process to ensure that agreed standards of performance are consistently achieved through effective communication and management.

To manage and support the driver workforce while engaged in activities to ensure full legal compliance. Ensure records are correctly completed and maintained in accordance with the procedure.

Manage all aspects of driver performance to achieve or surpass expectations and KPIs.

Promote company Health & Safety and employment policies within the transport operation.

Ensure all personnel files are up to date incorporating license validation, personal details, and completed training.

Responsible for site audits and work closely with the Transport Manager to ensure KPIs are met.

Support the daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing answers to urgent queries.

Actively work with the customer and site management team to achieve performance, addressing any concerns or questions in a timely manner.

Manage the recruitment of permanent and temporary staff as required to cover business peaks.

Ensure that the Transport Manager & the H&S team are made aware of all accidents, dangerous occurrences & near misses and that the relevant reports are completed for all such incidents.

Responsible for identifying and escalating any maintenance and repair issues on-site and within the depot.

Ensure that all daily vehicle checks, vehicle inspections & defect reporting procedures are in place.

Qualifications

Proven track record in the Transport & Logistics industry.

Demonstrable experience of successful resource management.

Excellent organization and communication skills.

Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPIs.

Excellent understanding of Health and Safety processes.

Energetic and has a natural desire to generate and drive improvements.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment.
