We are looking for a caring and flexible person to join our team on Marlowe. We have a full time, Band 5, Staff Nurse vacancy covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis. Our shifts are long days (07:30-20:00), Nights (19:30-08:00), Early (07:30-15:30) and Late (12:30-20:00). We are looking for an individual with experience in care who will contribute to this, who is eager to learn, has a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive member of a team. We have many exciting learning opportunities on Marlowe, you will learn how to care for patients with renal disease and how to perform specialist treatments such as dialysis. We have a robust in-house education programme as well as practical skills training on the ward. There is also the opportunity to rotate within the renal department. Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include; • Acting as the identified nurse for a group of patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care. • Providing personal care to patients including pressure sore prevention, toileting and catheter care. • Taking and electronically recording patient’s vital signs and blood glucose and acting upon the results. • Carrying out and documenting patient risk assessments and implementing measures to reduce risk and keep patients safe. • Administering medications via various routes. • Supporting and supervising junior members of staff in giving high standards of care. • Liaising with the multidisciplinary team. • Participating in planning timely and safe discharges. By working clinically as a member of the nursing team you will work within a specialised unit based team of qualified and non-qualified staff. Experience
Recent experience in an acute Trust Previous renal experience Skills
Knowledge of patient risk assessments Clinical skills i.e cannulation, wound care, etc. The ability to converse easily and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for all customer-facing roles. Most positions require a Disclosure and Barring check and will be exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Posts working regularly or unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults require an enhanced check. We operate a no-smoking policy on all our sites and grounds.
