Full time and permanent The Client: Our client is a leading manufacturer of stainless steel components for the construction industry. Trusted and respected, they advise, design and manufacture industry-approved products which comply with Euro-code, NHBC, and BBA requirements. A new and exciting opportunity for a Technical Specification Manager has become available within their prestigious Specification Department. Specification Managers are renowned for their technical knowledge, customer service, and excellent consultative approach to target delivery. You will be liaising with mainly Architects, Engineers, Estimators, and Design Managers, with a view of introducing products at the beginning phase of the project design process. A full training period will be given to the successful individual; you will receive information on products, customers, target market, systems, and internal contacts to enable you to make a success of the job role. Full support will be in place. What the role involves: To be the single technical point of contact for the customer's design team from the start of stage 3 through to receipt of DCO/PO. Proactively lead customer engagement throughout stage 3 to ensure a full basket of the company's products are specified. Support the BDM during stage 4 to the point of DCO/PO through ongoing proactive technical engagement and quality control. From projects identified by Stage 3 Co-Ordinator and your own contacts/leads, proactively engage with customers' technical team. Sell the company's offering and support the customer in the technical development of their design, typically stage 3 (sections, VE activities, teams calls, arrange CPD’s, etc). Track projects through the planning stage and hand over the project (from a sales perspective) to the relevant BDM (Specified projects, competitor specified projects, and open specs) to work with the main contractor. Remain the technical point of contact with the customer throughout until PO/DCO. Work closely with BDM to support technical strategy, quality check all DR outputs from the technical team prior to submission to the customer. Work with BDM to develop accurate proposals and effectively communicate assumptions/exclusions to ensure price accuracy is clearly understood. Develop strong technical relationships with customer technical teams. Key Competencies
(Knowledge, Skills & Experience required – essential and desirable) Ability to lead technical meetings with the customer's design team to generate structurally acceptable solutions. Be able to use CAD to professionally convey design intent/options following design meetings. Strong communication skills (Teams, Telephone, face-to-face). Ability to develop relationships with the customer technical team. Be able to multitask and manage time effectively to ensure multiple projects are tracked and proactively progressed as required.
