We are looking to appoint two Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The role is challenging, varied, complex and responsive to the increasingly innovative development of new medicines and their role in healthcare today. The training opportunity is an advanced apprenticeship full time fixed term contract for 2 years. You will study to achieve the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship. This qualification is approved to enable you to apply for registration to practice as Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Training and support will be provided by work based assessors and course tutors during your training. Eligibility Criteria: Any age post full-time education 16+ Cannot already be on an Apprenticeship or any Government funded training Cannot have a qualification at the same or higher level in the same vocational area Has been a UK resident for 3 or more years Meets the eligible and valid residency status and permission to work in the UK criteria in Annex A of the linked funding document Please check the person specification for the minimum educational requirements to be accepted onto the apprenticeship. Main duties of the job

Whilst in training the post holder will carry out pharmaceutical duties, under the direct supervision of an appropriate person in all sections of the pharmacy department, including Aseptic Manufacturing. Some of the duties will be in the form of training exercises and competence-based assessments in conjunction with the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship. The Pharmacy department is split over 2 sites, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. An inpatient and outpatient dispensing service is offered at both sites along with patient medication review and stock management at ward level. The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site has an aseptic suite to compound and supply intravenous chemotherapy, nutrition and radioactive tracers for both sites. Qualifications

GCSE’s: Maths C, English and Science (Grade 4-9, A-C) and 3 other subjects at a minimum of grade C (4) L2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) Skills

Meticulous attention to detail Well organised/able to meet deadlines Able to work as part of a team Experience

Previous experience with the public. Basic computer skills e.g Excel, Word and PowerPoint Previous experience of working in an Aseptic Unit.
