Our Children and Young Persons Service aims to improve the quality of life for young people by ensuring their voices are heard, providing access to resources, and equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and support. Join our compassionate team as an Occupational Therapist dedicated to supporting Children and Young People with mental health and well-being. Through personalised assessments and tailored interventions, you will help individuals regain independence, engage in meaningful activities, and achieve their recovery goals. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those experiencing mental health challenges within a supportive and inclusive environment. You will conduct initial assessments, offer 1:1 support, and help young people identify their needs and work towards their goals. You will collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team, providing both Occupational Therapy-specific and general mental health support, meeting clients in person and via video conferencing. This post is working 36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday. What you will be doing:

Conducting initial assessments and ensuring robust support packages are offered. Providing 1:1 support to a caseload of clients. Assisting young people in their recovery journey, helping them identify and achieve their goals. Liaising with statutory and non-statutory support organizations, providing appropriate referrals. Working with young people, their networks, and the team to ensure accessible support and interventions. Maintaining up-to-date records and implementing policies and procedures. Contributing to funding applications and update reports. Maintaining personal development and staying current with knowledge and the health and social care agenda. What you will need:

Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy (or evidence of imminent award) (E) Registered with HCPC and BAOT (or evidence of imminent registration) (E) Experience working in a multi-skilled team with young people (11-25) with mental health difficulties (E) Experience supporting young people with living skills and meaningful activities (E) Experience in needs-led assessments, goal planning, and reviewing (E) Experience supporting young people with complex needs (E) Evidence of partnership working with Social Care Services, Health Services, Voluntary Agencies, Education, etc. (E) In-depth understanding of Occupational Therapy theory and practice models (E) Understanding of Recovery values and principles (E) Knowledge of social care resources and provisions in statutory and non-statutory agencies (E) Commitment to service users’ rights, involvement, and service-user-led initiatives (E) Ability to create and embed a culturally sensitive approach (E) Excellent assessment skills, both generic and Occupational Therapy-specific (E) Client-centred support approach (E) Strong organisational and communication skills with an ability to meet deadlines (E) Ability to manage risk and reflective practice. Good IT skills, including use of Zoom, MS Teams, and client database systems (E)
