Our Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Service at HMP Brinsford is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Social Worker to join our busy, friendly and professional team working with young people in custody aged 18-28 years old. This is an exciting and energetic role for an individual who is passionate about providing good quality mental health care and holistic support within a busy and rewarding environment. The variety of the role will keep things fresh and stimulating whilst being part of a supportive team with effective management providing supervision and guidance. Key Responsibilities

You will be a qualified Social Worker, with a flexible approach and want to work in a team that encourages new ideas and feedback on how to improve the service. You will be confident in dealing with a wide range of situations with a multi-agency approach to provide the best care to service users, families and carers within the prison and on release. You will be enthusiastic about working within an ever-changing prison environment. Work in a fully multi-disciplinary team to provide varied and comprehensive interventions in-line with the stepped care model. Work to assist service users to progress through their sentence and onto their resettlement in the community. Main Duties of the Job

You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based interventions. The postholder will manage a caseload of service users, practicing within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team and Care Programme Approach. The postholder will provide a care coordinator role with a specialist contribution with particular focus around release planning. You will work with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge, which can include transferring care to other providers such as hospitals or CMHTs whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway. You will help to rehabilitate and support service users to live decent and purposeful lives as members of the community. You will have strong engagement and motivation skills and be able to work well with service users with complex needs which can include health needs of learning disability, forensic/offending history and mental health needs. The postholder will benefit from the experience and support of the team and that of its NHS employer. Qualifications

Professional Qualification (Degree & Post graduate or equivalent) and/or Relevant experience in comparative setting. Evidence of continued development and up to date skills base. Qualification in nursing, social work, probation, psychology or substance misuse. Qualification in therapeutic skills. Knowledge of national data collection systems e.g. NDTMS. Experience

Sound knowledge of blood borne viruses and harm reduction approaches to alleviate symptoms. Experience of working with drug and alcohol users and within a prison environment. Evidence and understanding of evidenced based therapies and interventions for the treatment of drug and alcohol use. Experience of working with dual diagnosis/mental health. Experience of group facilitation. Supervisory experience. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
