As a Ward Nurse, you will be expected to demonstrate competence in a wide range of clinical skills. These include

venepuncture, administering intravenous (IV) medications, male and female catheterization, wound management, and drain care. Efficient Time Management and Patient Allocation:

The ability to care for 4-6 patients concurrently requires excellent organizational skills and flexibility. You will need to prioritize tasks, respond rapidly to changing patient conditions, and maintain meticulous documentation. Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

Clear, compassionate communication is at the heart of nursing. Ensuring that information is conveyed accurately, promptly, and sensitively will help maintain trust and confidence in the care provided. Teamwork and Independence:

The Kinvara Hospital manages a variety of specialities including Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, General Surgery, and Plastics. Each of these disciplines presents its own set of patient needs, surgical interventions, and recovery trajectories, ensuring that no two days are the same. The 21-bed capacity of the Hospital ensures that nurses have the opportunity to engage in patient care on a personal level. As a Ward Nurse - Bank, you will typically be assigned to look after 4-6 patients at any given time, facilitating a manageable nurse-to-patient ratio. This allows for individualized, person-centered care and the ability to build rapport with patients and their families. Engaging patients in their care plans, promoting informed decision-making, and empowering them towards better health outcomes is a central part of the nursing role at Kinvara. Job responsibilities

Main purpose of job:

Under the general direction of the Senior Nurse in Charge and in collaboration with other nursing staff, the 1st Level Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates an appropriate programme of nursing care for patients. Coordinates with:

Other RGNs, Care, housekeeping and catering staff. Duties Include: Provides leadership and general supervision of all activities of nursing staff relating to the nursing care of patients. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care, based on a nursing model of care. Carries out nursing procedures and treatments, including the administration of medicines and controlled drugs according to Yorkshire Surgicentre Standards and Policy and following NMC guidelines. Assists in the orientation of new staff and in the induction and training of students and nursing auxiliary staff. Assists in the promotion and implementation of good management practices throughout the Hospital and readily assumes team leadership responsibilities, including monitoring of practice and performance appraisal. Agrees to take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or do not do.
