Role Description There is an opportunity within Nomura Asset Management for an experienced risk professional to join as the Head of Investment Risk. The role would suit someone who possesses advanced analytical skills in the assessment of investment risk and has leadership experience as the role has one direct report. Knowledge of fixed income, multi-asset (including derivatives) and equity asset classes are essential along with experience with different risk models. The successful candidate will have the confidence and credibility to present risk concerns and potential corrective actions to senior investors and the management of NAM UK. The individual will report to the Head of Compliance. Run monthly risk reports for Equity, Fixed Income and Multi Asset Portfolios Lead Equity, Fixed Income and Multi Asset risk meetings with PMs and explain the risks Lead formal risk committees and present the portfolio risks Run additional analyses, either to satisfy non-standard client requests or to supplement the abilities of the risk systems in use Maintain knowledge of industry standards and best practice Work closely with investment teams to understand the intended portfolio risks and point out any unintentional exposures Suggest corrective actions where portfolio tolerances are breached Work with the Performance and IT teams to increase understanding of risk reporting techniques and the portfolios we manage Have oversight of longer term risk projects Lead and develop the team (currently one analyst) to maintain BAU reporting/processes, enhance analytics and meet requirements of NAM U.K Free ranging role to identify, report and resolve investment risks Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required Degree qualified with strong numeracy and analytical skills Post graduate qualifications such as Masters/PhD or CFA desirable Several years’ experience in a risk management role Experience of Market risk, Liquidity risk and Credit risk Experience of ESG/Sustainable investments Previous experience with leadership/mentoring Be able to challenge the investment team Excellent communication skills The ability to prioritise deliverables and meet client expectations Be able to establish good working relationships internally/externally Previous hands on experience using RiskMetrics, Barra One and Bloomberg PORT or similar Experience of Fixed Income, Equity and Multi Asset asset classes, including derivatives Ideally able to bring a fresh perspective relative to systems or investment teams VBA desirable Nomura Competencies Trusted Partner:
