Consultant Cellular Pathologist, special interest in Head & Neck, Uropathology, Lung, Gastrointestinal, Liver and Breast Pathology. Gynaecological histology and non-gynaecological cytology cover might be required. The Cellular Pathology Department at Northwick Park Hospital requires a one-year fixed term locum consultant in Cellular Pathology, with a special interest in Head & Neck, Uropathology, Lung, Gastrointestinal, Liver and Breast Pathology who will work alongside an established team of twelve other pathologists. Candidates wishing to work part time or additional PAs will also be considered. There is a stratified payment system in place for internal backlog management that allows payments reflective of complexity to be made for additional cases undertaken. Main Duties of the Job

The department of Cellular Pathology at NPH was joined by the St Mark's Academic Unit of Gastrointestinal Pathology in 1995 and by the CMH department in 2002. It occupies levels 4WX and 6X, part of the wing of the campus that houses the endoscopy suite, St Mark's and the Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research (NPIMR). This wing is also close to the theatre block. It includes the Regional Cytology Training School facilities. Within the department are two interconnecting seminar rooms (seating for up to 60 persons). The appointee will be expected to take on the duties of a specialist working mainly in Head & Neck, Uropathology, Lung, Gastrointestinal, Liver and Breast Pathology. Gynaecological histology and non-gynaecological cytology cover might be required. The department's routine workload includes a broad spectrum of screening and diagnostic cases together with network, national and international referral cases. St Mark's is one of the largest review centres in the UK for GI pathology, especially for polyposis, complex inflammatory bowel disease and cancer cases. The diagnostic workload within the Department for Gastrointestinal Pathology ranges from 13,500-15,000/year. Qualifications / Skills

FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification. Applicants that are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Full registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview). Experience

Experience in GI, Liver and Breast Pathology. IT Skills and computer literacy. Experience training graduates. NHS experience within the last 3 years. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
