Summary YASA is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to join and lead a small, dynamic team of R&D engineers within our Innovation team. Reporting to the CTO, you will be involved in a range of different R&D projects, undertaking simulation and advanced engineering on our different axial flux motor solutions. You will analyse and manage requirements, functionality, and system design throughout their lifecycle, including customer requirements, interfaces, system, and sub-system requirements. Key Responsibilities: Management of technical project requirements. Data analysis of motor performance from internal and external data sources in development and production. Contribute to the wider R&D efforts at YASA, involving simulation, data analysis, and lab work. Coordination of simulations and test data delivery to customers. Interface with the customer to schedule test data delivery. Generate reports and presentations to communicate information to internal and external stakeholders. Management of requirements for innovation projects, being the main interface between the customer and internal development teams (performance/magnetic, inverter, and design). Manage team workload and stakeholders to ensure efficient working and impactful delivery. Train and mentor junior Developers and Engineers. To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need: A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with proven experience in systems engineering. Considerable industrial experience in the development of electric powertrain systems. Strong understanding of electric motor design and performance characteristics. Experience of managing technical requirements. Some experience with control or electronics. Working knowledge of fundamental physics concepts. Experience of managing a cross-functional team of engineers. Working knowledge of Functional Safety topics, ISO 262626. To be a highly motivated individual with the ability to infuse change and energy at all levels within the business. To be a strong leader with the ability to train and grow a small team.
