Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEMH school in Salford. This long-term role provides the opportunity to work closely with students who need tailored support to thrive in their education and personal development.
The Role As a Behaviour Mentor, you will: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to foster engagement and emotional well-being. Assist in delivering lessons, interventions, and activities that cater to the needs of the students. Support students in managing challenging behaviours, using de-escalation strategies when needed. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support. Create a safe, nurturing environment that promotes students' social and emotional development.
Requirements We are looking for someone who: Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in a school or similar setting. Is resilient, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviours. Possesses excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting the development of vulnerable young people. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or Mental Health Awareness) are desirable but not essential.
