We are currently recruiting for Nursing Assistants in St Helens. The services we are recruiting for is based in St Helens. Iris Ward provides mental health inpatient services to female adults with severe mental health problems such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. This opportunity would be ideal for those who already have experience working within Mental Health and live local to the service. Main duties of the job

To carry out assigned duties, involving direct care and observation of service users under the guidance and indirect supervision of qualified staff. To report to the qualified staff any observations made whilst providing care to service users, providing details of mental state and risk factors. To work with service users on an individual and group basis as outlined in the care plan and as directed by the appropriate named lead professional. About us

Under the direction of the qualified practitioner, participate in the delivery of planned care for allocated service users. The post holder will undertake a range of assigned duties which include: Assist in the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual care of service users under the supervision of a registered nurse. Work within a team to manage risk and the implementation of the service users' care plan. Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated. Help with the involvement of service users, and carers/relatives in the delivery of care. Provide support and assistance with relatives/carers, directing them to the appropriate professional. Assist in providing care and support to service users with a range of personal needs, including hygiene/dressing, support with dietary and fluid intake, ensuring optimum comfort with an emphasis on a person-centered approach. Complete physical observations, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, and basic tests, urinalysis, blood glucose, and report the results. Assist with health promotion activities as directed. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent medical and psychiatric emergency situations. Provide an escort to service users for specific appointments or treatment as requested by the nurse in charge. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills when interacting with service users utilizing both verbal and non-verbal communication. Report appropriate observations and any concerns regarding service user care to the qualified practitioner. Assist in the management of challenging behaviours utilizing trust approved techniques. Ensure appropriate records are maintained under the direction of the qualified practitioner. Contribute to the development of services by sharing ideas/thoughts and giving feedback at appropriate forums. Contribute to service improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of service user care. Contribute to the effective and efficient use of resources. Understand and adhere to Trust policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines. Report incidents, near misses, and hazards to the nurse in charge. Work with intermittent, direct supervision. The post holder is required to report to and seek the advice of a registered professional and/or Assistant Practitioner/Healthcare Support Worker with any queries. Person Specification
