Wheelchair Therapist - Band 6 Part time - 30 hours per week Bromley Wheelchair Service has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Wheelchair Therapist (background as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) to work up to 30 hours per week in this innovative service. The postholder will ideally have experience working in neurology or with children; however, this role is an opportunity to receive training from our specialist wheelchair therapists and rehabilitation engineers to increase knowledge and skills in posture and seating of adults and children with physical disabilities. The service works predominantly as a clinic-based service; however, home visits, school clinics, and specialist seating clinics are also completed. Main duties of the job
Act as a Senior Therapist within the Wheelchair Service with responsibility for the provision of therapy services to patients in a range of domiciliary and residential settings, and assessments for wheelchairs and seating in clinics and the home environment. Undertake assessments of a wide range of complex patients using clinical reasoning skills in line with evidence-based practice. Formulate and implement intervention plans and facilitate patients to manage their own health and wellbeing. Work as part of the multi-disciplinary Wheelchair Service Team in a variety of settings, assessing, planning, and prescribing wheelchairs and posture management systems for clients of all ages. Qualifications
BSc Hons Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Wheelchair Prescribers training Registration
HCPC Registration Member of RCOT or CSP Training
Evidence of Continued Professional Development Skills
Knowledge of rehabilitation Knowledge and application of Physiotherapy/OT assessments and intervention relevant to patient group Wheelchair assessment and provision skills Current UK license/access & use of a car for work purposes Able to analyse professional and ethical issues Understanding of clinical governance Evidence of contributing to service evaluation and audit Experience
Post graduate clinical experience Experience of working clinically in neurology or with children Experience in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopaedic, and respiratory patients.
