Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist - Learning Support Assistant - Special Needs - SEN - SALT - ASD - Surrey Are you an outstanding Graduate looking to gain experience before pursuing a career as a Speech and Language Therapist? Are you motivated by supporting and helping children to reach their full potential? Look no further, as we have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Leatherhead for children with additional learning needs. Most children have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and an Autism diagnosis. This school is looking for a passionate and committed Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist to work as a SEN Learning Support Assistant in their school for children aged 4-16. You will be supporting a small class of 7-10 students, working in partnership with the school's teaching staff, therapists and support staff team to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' learning, development and language acquisition. As an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) and deliver interventions to children with speech, language and communication needs both in small groups and 1:1. You will make a real difference to the lives of the children, gaining vital experience which will enable you to kick-start your future career as a Speech and Language Therapist. Job role and responsibilities of Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist: Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience for students Provide behaviour and pastoral support Take an active role in forward planning with therapists Build robust and effective relationships with students Adopt a practical approach to meet the individual needs of students Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills Be caring, compassionate, and a good listener Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures Provide personal care support Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD Experience is not required, but candidates should demonstrate an interest in working with children with SEN.
