Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education. We have a co-educational community of over 500 students aged from 6-18, who are predominantly full boarding and are drawn from over 40 countries. We are looking for an inspirational Head of Mathematics to lead this thriving department from September 2025. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who is passionate about working with students who are eager to learn and challenge themselves. A level mathematics and further mathematics are popular choices for students and a number go on to study mathematics or closely related degrees at university. Gordonstoun encourages all staff to engage in our wonderfully broad programme, and we are seeking someone who is keen to play an active role in boarding school life, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, in the mountains or in the middle of the Moray Firth.

Qualifications Required:

Experience of teaching mathematics up to GCSE and A level (or equivalent) in a secondary school.

Experience of leading staff teams to create, develop and apply vision.

Good first degree in mathematics or closely related discipline.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education or equivalent in secondary education.

Meets requirements to register with the GTCS.

Experience of teaching A level Further Mathematics.

Experience of preparing students for Oxbridge entrance.

Experience of leading performance management and continuing professional development.

Further qualifications.

Already registered with the GTCS.
