Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust North Yorkshire and York Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services are seeking to recruit a CAMHS Clinician to work in the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Team. Candidates must have a professional registration as a Child, Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist.

We are looking for enthusiastic, well-motivated, forward-thinking clinicians to work as part of our team, assisting young people and their families facing mental health challenges in the York area.

18 months post-qualifying experience, including sign-off of the appropriate preceptorship or competency framework, is essential.

Main Duties of the Job The team is multi-disciplinary and provides specialist assessments, treatment, and interventions for young people suffering from moderate to severe complex emotional, behavioral, and psychological issues resulting in mental health problems.

Ideally, candidates will already be trained in a governed evidence-based therapy such as CBT, DBT, or SFP, or be trained as a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP). Experience working clinically with children and young people with mental health and neurodevelopmental needs is essential.

The team is currently in a position to help staff develop the knowledge and experience within CAMHS and offer additional training as appropriate to the role.

You should be an experienced CAMHS clinician who can manage your own caseload, emphasizing both brief therapy and longer-term specialist interventions.

Person Specification Qualifications

Current professional registration with the appropriate body in healthcare or social work.

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area (within an agreed timescale).

18 months post-qualifying experience, including sign-off of the appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

Depending on the work area, recognized sign-off mentor (or equivalent) must be achieved within an agreed timescale.

Key skills in literacy, numeracy, and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent).

Certificate in teaching & assessing in clinical practice as appropriate to own profession.

CAMHS Degree.

Recognized qualification in a specific model of therapy (e.g., family therapy, CBT, etc.).

Recognized training in the facilitation of Parenting Groups.

Experience

Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.

Providing clinical supervision.

Working in a multi-disciplinary team.

Quality improvement activities.

Significant experience working with children and young people with mental ill health in a community setting.

Mentoring students on practice placement experience.

Leadership or management experience.

Knowledge

Demonstrable knowledge to post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for children and young people in the designated field.

Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).

Care Programme Approach and its application in practice.

Detailed understanding of safeguarding and its application in practice.

Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.

Clinical Governance and its application in practice.

Research and development methodology.

Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment.

The Trust's Quality Improvement System (QIS).

Skills

Provide leadership and monitor, coordinate, and prioritize the activities of a team.

Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children and young people, carers/families, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.

Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional/care coordinator responsibilities.

Provide effective clinical supervision, teaching, training, and assessing in clinical practice.

Write reports.

Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional settings.

Use approved breakaway techniques.
