Develop and deliver NIV service. Support an environment where health promotion and informed patient choice is encouraged and developed to its maximum potential, with the available resources. Support the evaluation of Respiratory / NIV Practice by monitoring the standards of care and ensuring that nursing practice is audited and research-based in order to provide a continually improving service and support the clinical governance framework. Request patient investigations within protocols and manage patient care with own professional Respiratory / NIV competence. Monitor treatment compliance and advise on modifications to treatment within agreed guidelines and protocols. Contribute to the development of nursing practice guidelines, policies and protocols/care pathways within Respiratory / NIV Medicine. Act as patients advocate in all matters relating to his or her care, treatment and welfare; acknowledging and incorporating cultural preferences, health beliefs and behaviors. Demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills through delivery of respiratory / NIV practice to the highest standard. Act as a professional role model and provide specialist support and advice to colleagues. Take a lead in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care in partnership with the patient and the multidisciplinary team.
