Microbiologist Permanent Position Paying up to £26,000 + Benefits Based in North London

My client, a leader in delivering high quality, biological pharmaceutical products is seeking a Microbiologist to join their growing team in London. In this role you will be responsible for conducting microbiology tests on pharmaceutical samples and environmental monitoring of the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, in line with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Key responsibilities of the Microbiologist include: Conduct microbiology testing on pharmaceutical samples, in line with company policies, SOPs and GMP. Undertake environmental monitoring e.g. water and air testing. Ensure results are reported in a timely manner, within appropriate systems e.g. LIMS. Preparation of laboratory reagents and controls, for use in microbiology activities and experiments. Support the overall smooth running of the function, including general housekeeping activities and equipment calibration and maintenance. Report any Quality Assurance (QA) incidents e.g. out of specification (OOS), non-conformities and deviations, supporting with investigations as needed. Follow laboratory Health and Safety (H&S) policies and procedures, raising concerns or potential risks to management within the organisation.

To be considered for the Microbiologist, you will need the following skills and experience: Hands-on experience within a laboratory environment, ideally with a focus on microbiology methods and techniques e.g. aseptic technique, sterility testing, endotoxin testing, bioburden testing, environmental monitoring and water testing. BSc or MSc in a Scientific discipline e.g., Microbiology, Bioscience, Biochemistry, Biological Science, Biomedical Science, etc. or equivalent working experience. An understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) would be highly advantageous. Knowledge of Health and Safety guidelines and procedures within a laboratory environment, gained from time spent within a laboratory. A keen attention to detail and understanding of the importance of documentation and reporting within a pharmaceutical environment. Strong communication skills, so able to cross-functionally communicate with internal departments and teams.
