Registered Nurse - Tower 2 (Med/Surg & Cardiac/IMCU) - PRN Tier 1 Location: York Hospital, York, PA Schedule: PRN (As Needed) Hours: 24 Hours Every 6 Weeks Required Department Summary

Tower 2 is a 60-bed mixed acuity, cardiac and telemetry unit specializing in the care of patients 18 years and older recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries and interventions, as well as cardiac medical patients. General Summary

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit according to established procedures, protocols, and regulations. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment. Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Provides and coordinates direct care in accordance with the principles of Relationship Based Care to patients based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit and synthesizes patient data to develop outcome-driven plans. Safely and independently administers prescribed treatments, medications, and nursing interventions based on assessment and plan of care. Organizes and prioritizes time based on patient condition and expected workload, identifying changes in patients' status and acting accordingly. Communicates individualized patient needs for inter-shift report and transfer/discharge, collaborating with all disciplines in evaluation of patient progress. Documents patient response to interventions and progress toward outcomes, utilizing appropriate documentation methods. Participates in performance improvement efforts and complies with changes in clinical standards and policies. Seeks learning opportunities and resources beyond own work environment. Promotes an environment conducive to professional practice and interdisciplinary collaboration. Begins to provide leadership for problem solving and goal formation, negotiating for win-win solutions. Delegates aspects of care to other nursing personnel to meet patient needs and maximize team performance. Promotes collaboration and communication among all team members. Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Qualifications

Education: Diploma Program Required or Associates Degree Required Bachelors Degree Nursing (BSN) Preferred Work Experience: Less than 1 year Relevant experience.
