RWE Supply & Trading GmbH To start as soon as possible, full time / part time, permanent About the role As a (Senior) Portfolio Analyst within RWE Supply and Trading GmbH (RWEST), you will play a pivotal role in our Global Portfolio & Modelling department. This team is at the heart of RWEST’s Commercial Asset and Portfolio Analysis group, delivering cutting-edge quantitative modelling for portfolio optimisation, risk analysis, pricing, and forecasting. Our focus spans a diverse array of energy technologies, including storage, renewables, conventional, and hybrid assets, covering markets in Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and ensure the consistent application of quantitative methods and tools across regions and technologies. Collaborating closely with stakeholders across various RWE Group companies (e.g., Offshore Wind, Renewables Europe & Australia, Clean Energy, Generation) and RWEST-internal departments, you will distil complex data analyses into actionable recommendations. Senior analysts are also expected to communicate these insights effectively to senior stakeholders, driving data-informed decision-making at the highest levels. Deliver portfolio analysis to provide model-driven recommendations for strategic generation asset decisions, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and hedging strategies. Drive and improve discussions on the RWE group portfolio, risk / return trade-offs, and market correlations with stakeholders from all RWE Group companies. Ensure high standards of data quality and efficient data management, leveraging automation and streamlining potentials (e.g., using Lead-in-Data). Communicate your analysis results effectively across various seniority levels and make data-backed recommendations on portfolio decisions. Research new methodologies, explore additional applications for models, and identify improvement opportunities. Provide ad-hoc modelling support and commercial expertise to internal functions (e.g., Commercial Analysis, Structured Origination, Optimisation). Job requirements and experience Master’s degree or Ph.D. in economics, engineering, mathematics or a related quantitative field. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail. At least three years in a Commercial role within the energy sector or a related field, particularly in model development focused on portfolio management, quantitative finance, or data science. Demonstrable experience in model development using Python, R, or similar programming languages, in a professional or academic setting. Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to structure and present complex information to diverse stakeholders, including senior management (both written and spoken). Willingness to travel occasionally to other regional locations. Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
