As a Residential Childcare Officer, you may be working at a specific home but also expected to support other Children’s homes as needed. This may include covering an additional sleep-in duty as an emergency measure. You will help ensure children and young people receive a high level and quality of individual support throughout their time in our homes. You will be working within a team supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes, build appropriate relationships, and have fun. You need to be willing to learn and share experiences, skills, and knowledge whilst also putting children and young people at the centre of your role. What We Are Looking For From You
As a Residential Childcare Officer, you will provide direct care and effective support to young people to enable them to achieve positive outcomes in line with their childcare personal plan. Every day is different, and you will face new challenges. We need staff members with a can-do attitude, who are willing to go above and beyond for the young people in their care. We need our team to help recognise and promote young people’s individuality, uniqueness, and diverse needs whilst providing a nurturing and positive environment. As part of the role, you will: Participate fully in the caring and supported living environment within the home, which will involve household cleaning, maintenance, meal preparation, and helping young people get around to events, activities, education, appointments, and meetings. Actively support the education plans for children, which may include homework, revision, project work, and other educational activities. Encourage reading and intellectual development of young people by creating a positive environment for learning and support creating positive links with schools.
