Job Description We are looking for an International Payroll Specialist to join our team in London where you will get to develop a detailed understanding of our International Operations. In this role you will be involved with developing controls and procedures to ensure that international payrolls are processed accurately and on time. You will ensure corresponding costs are properly accounted for, review and improve on controls and procedures to ensure voluntary and mandatory deductions are submitted compliantly by third-party providers and anticipate local cash flow requirements when/where necessary.
This is a hybrid position based in London and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.
Main Responsibilities:
Compare payroll data to information in Workday prior to processing of payroll
Liaise with internal partners to ensure the data is accurate and complete
Manage new joiners and terminations
Prepare changes data and upload to payroll providers
Payroll-to-payroll control to balance new hires, terminations and salary changes
Ensure all employees are accurately recorded in Workday
Post reconciliation, provide approval to third-party payroll providers
Total payroll (earnings, voluntary and mandatory deductions) will be provided to Finance and Newsroom Accountants for verification to General Ledger
Research and reconcile discrepancies
Be the key contact person for payroll providers and accountants for payroll approvals
Ensure all legal, social and pension obligations are handled in a timely and appropriate manner
Respond to employee enquiries in a pro-active and courteous manner
Manage the year-end processes
Manage risk within your role, escalating when appropriate
Provide support for audit enquiries
Our Ideal Candidate:
Proven payroll experience
Fluent or business level in French
Good understanding and proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate ideas and prepare reports
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, employees and external vendors
Basic understanding of General Ledger liability accounts desired
Ability to quickly learn payroll requirements for each country
Naturally curious, willing to question and learn legal, statutory and social security requirements for each country
Collaborative and proactive approach
Assertive and interested in working for an international organization
Experience using Workday would be ideal, but not essential
Proven experience of managing payroll for France and UK
Experience of managing payroll for Canada and Germany preferred, but not essential
