Occupational Therapy Assistant

£12.54 8am-8:30pm with some sleep ins To contribute to the delivery of therapeutic activities appropriate to the client's needs, choices and interests under the supervision and guidance of an occupational therapist (OT). To assist the OT in the day to day duties and running of the department. To support and encourage clients with their therapeutic activity/intervention goals and report back on their progress, liaising with the OTs, Clinical Services team and other members of the team where necessary. Summary of Responsibilities

KPI 1 Clinical:

Assist in the implementation and delivery of agreed programmes and interventions with support from the OT, reporting back and evaluating client progress, informing the OT of any problems. KPI 2 Clinical:

Under the over-arching guidance and supervision from a qualified OT, lead group and individual sessions independently, being responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work. KPI 3 Clinical:

Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date documentation, in line with legal and departmental requirements, providing both written and verbal feedback on the clients' progress and fluctuation within activities. Report and document any changes in clients' physical, behavioural or emotional condition to a member of the clinical team, or the wider team, depending on the context of the work. KPI 4 Clinical:

Support the OT to deliver staff training, both formally and informally, promoting and discussing with staff, family and advocates the benefits of OT. KPI 5 Clinical:

Ensure all equipment/tools used for OT interventions are maintained in a safe and proper condition and appropriately risk assessed, maintaining, monitoring and recording resources used. This will include oversight of the OT room and/or sensory room. KPI 6 Professional:

Promote and ensure the good reputation of the unit. To maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude toward clients, their families, staff, visitors and others, creating an atmosphere that suits the individual. KPI 7 Professional:

To attend and participate in meetings when requested, concerning individuals within the unit. KPI 8 Personal:

Participate in agreed systems of appraisal and individual performance review with line manager, and attending all training sessions as required. General Responsibilities

To attend for work reliably and punctually and to follow a work pattern as required to fulfil the role which may include working overtime if the need arises. To know where to access Cambian Group policies, to keep yourself up to date with all procedures and policy changes and to be aware of and follow their contents. To remain vigilant and do everything possible to protect individuals in our care and others from abuse of a physical, emotional, sexual, neglectful, financial or institutional nature. This includes an absolute requirement to manage/investigate any incident of this nature you witness that is brought to your attention or suspect. To develop own practice through the supervision and appraisal process, ensuring your continuous professional development needs are identified and addressed. Use an appropriate level of confidentiality where personal information is involved with regard to both individuals in our care and employees. Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant or relevant other experience. Previous experience of working with vulnerable people.
