Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council Hybrid Working £49,764 - £52,805 Sellick Partnership is thrilled to be assisting Barnsley Council in their search for a Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their growing legal team on a permanent basis. Barnsley Council is a double-award winning Council of the Year authority, making it an exciting time to join them. Responsibilities of the Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer: Deputising for the Principal Lawyer and training and supporting the Lawyers in the team. Assisting with the allocation of work, personal development plans, and 1:1s. Making applications to the Court of Protection and High Court, including COP applications concerning deputyships, welfare and best interests, deprivation of liberty including s21a, judicial review, and inherent jurisdiction. Providing detailed, accurate advice on the Council's responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Health and Social Care Act 2008, Mental Health Act 1983, and associated Regulations and Statutory Guidance. Providing legal advice and support across a broad range of areas including ordinary residence, Data Protection and Freedom of Information, safeguarding, provider failure, section 117 aftercare, and 16-17-year-old Deprivation of Liberty cases. Advising Service Managers and Directors on Adult Social Care policy and procedure. Experience required for the Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer: Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive. Prior experience in adult social care law from either a private practice or a public sector setting.
