The role holder will provide legal support in relation to the UK Insurance Business Unit, with a focus on Commercial Sales activities, and will take a strong leadership role in managing legal risk across this key segment of the UK Insurance Business Unit activities. We make health happen The role holder will be a key part of the Bupa UK Insurance Legal team with responsibility for the provision of strategic commercial and regulatory legal advice to ensure the effective management of legal risk to underpin delivery of the UK Insurance Business Unit strategy and Bupa’s purpose in accordance with our values. You’ll help us make health happen through: Acting as a business partner by providing expert legal and commercial support to stakeholders in the UK Insurance Business Unit to help it achieve its commercial goals aligned with Bupa's strategy and risk appetite. Providing advice and support to the Commercial Sales team in drafting and negotiating agreements for the provision by corporate clients of private medical insurance, dental insurance and health trust benefits to their staff, achieving agreed business outcomes and ensuring compliance with applicable law and regulation, including Bupa’s own policies, guidance and procedures. Working closely with stakeholders to deliver effective support and advice as a key team member in RFI, RFP and competitive tender processes. Providing an escalation point for complex technical legal queries ensuring their effective, timely and commercially sound resolution. Dealing with a wide range of 'business as usual' requests. Keeping up to date with external best practice and developments in law and regulation in order to maintain knowledge and ensure continuous improvement. Ensuring that appropriate procedures are in place to provide the business with adequate advance notice of changes in law and regulation and an understanding of the commercial implications of such changes. Developing and maintaining written resources including know-how, procedures, templates and guidance. Key Skills needed for this role: A qualified lawyer who can demonstrate exceptional commercial awareness, with good knowledge of data protection, information security and IP law. Experience of drafting and negotiating customer-facing agreements, including in relation to the provision of healthcare benefits, and advising on how to manage any associated risks and strengthen relationships with counterparties. An understanding of trust arrangements and the specific legal requirements that apply in relation to these. Strong drafting and negotiating skills with a high attention to detail and the ability to bring tenacity, critical thinking and excellent analytical skills to legal problems. Exceptional commercial awareness and the ability to build credibility with business function stakeholders, influence outcomes and provide practical and pragmatic solutions. Experience of making risk-based decisions in a complex operating environment with multiple competing demands. You understand the balance between commercial mechanisms and contractual mechanisms to manage risks and are able to articulate those risks appropriately.
