As the Associate Leader of Science, you will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring the science team. Reporting directly to the Principal, you will be responsible for:
Strategic Leadership:
Driving the strategic vision for the science department, aligning it with the school's overall objectives and ensuring continuous improvement. Team Development:
Leading a team of Science educators, fostering collaboration, and empowering them to deliver outstanding teaching and learning. Curriculum Oversight:
Ensuring the Science curriculum is engaging, challenging, and accessible, meeting the diverse needs of all students. Data-Driven Improvements:
Monitoring pupil progress, analysing data, and implementing targeted interventions to maximise achievement across the department. Collaboration with Senior Leaders:
Working closely with the senior leadership team to ensure the productivity and success of all pupils in Science. Accountability and Reporting:
Regularly reporting to the Principal on departmental improvements, positive impacts, and areas for development. The successful candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and possess the ability to teach Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Science to a high standard. Be an experienced Science teacher with a proven ability to deliver exceptional learning outcomes. Have substantial leadership experience within a secondary school setting, with a track record of working effectively with senior leadership teams. Demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, support, and challenge colleagues to achieve their best. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering positive relationships with staff, students, and parents. Have an in-depth knowledge of Science education and curriculum design, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning. Be confident in using data to monitor progress, identify trends, and implement strategies for improvement. Be adaptable, resilient, and solution-focused, thriving in a fast-paced and evolving school environment. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and model the school's values and commitment to excellence by: Setting and maintaining high standards for both staff and students, fostering a culture of achievement and ambition. Inspiring and empowering students to develop a lifelong love of science and the skills to succeed in STEM-related fields. Driving continuous professional development within the science department, ensuring the team stays abreast of best practices and innovations in teaching.
