This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within our dynamic and innovative Critical Care Unit. As a Critical Care Assistant, you will be an integral part of the team providing outstanding care for our most highly dependent patients.

You will contribute to the Trust's vision of Brilliant Care through meeting patients' daily needs and supporting the day-to-day running of the unit. You will play a key role in collecting patient observation records, reporting any changes in condition, collecting, sorting, and transporting specimens, all under the direction of our highly qualified Critical Care registered practitioners.

You will have the opportunity to work on your own initiative in a diverse and varied role, liaising with many different departments from across the Trust as well as with patients and carers.

This role will appeal to those from a care background who are empathetic and calm under pressure. An interest in high dependency care and prior experience in this environment would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the optimum delivery of care for the highly dependent patient by assisting all healthcare and clinical staff to meet their needs.

To ensure that privacy and dignity are respected at all times.

To have a good understanding of the complex needs of this group of patients.

To assist the team in providing an excellent service at all times by ensuring a good knowledge of the patient and service requirements.

To ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients.

Person Specification Qualifications

Good general education and willingness and ability to gain the Care Certificate qualification.

Care Certificate qualification or Health-related NVQ.

RCHT Band 3 competencies.

Basic general education to GCSE level or equivalent.

Experience

Previous hospital experience.

Experience in a critical care setting.
