A leading logistics company based in Tonbridge, Kent, is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their growing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the scheduling and planning of a fleet of 30-50 vehicles.

Transport Planner - Job Responsibilities

The role is taken in turns with other members of the team ensuring constant operational efficiency. Booking container collection & deliveries. Booking Lidl collections from supplier to RDC. First point of contact for all drivers. Develop, implement, and manage transport schedules for both collections and deliveries back to the depot, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of goods. Utilize Excel or Google Spreadsheets to manually plan routes, assign loads, and manage driver schedules. Proficiency with transport planning software is not required, but strong spreadsheet skills are essential. Coordinate and plan refrigerated transport for Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles, ensuring the integrity of temperature-sensitive deliveries. Work on a rotating shift basis, alternating between early shifts (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM) and late shifts (10:00 PM - 8:00 AM). Be available every other weekend for a few hours on Saturday and all day Sunday to handle any operational needs or issues. Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and resolve any issues swiftly. Ensure all transport activities comply with legal, safety, and company regulations, including driver hours and vehicle maintenance. Plan all local collections back to the depot. Significant experience in transport planning, specifically with refrigerated transport for Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles. Previous experience in planning for a fleet size of 30-50. Strong skills in manual planning using Excel or Google Spreadsheets. Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift pattern, including night shifts and occasional weekend hours. Excellent personal and communication skills to effectively liaise with drivers, clients, and internal teams. Ability to quickly address and resolve logistical challenges in a fast-paced environment. Transport Planner - Job Remunerations

£35,000 - £45,000 per annum. Hours: Monday to Friday, with a rotating shift pattern of 1 week early (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM) and 1 week late (10:00 PM - 8:00 AM). Additional Requirements: Every other Weekend: Saturday (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM) and Sunday (9:00 AM - 7:00 PM). 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays. Company pension. Onsite parking.
