Job Description The postholder will undertake site inspections, the acceptance of Completion Certificates, assist with the verification of applications for Building Warrant and provide advice and guidance to enquirers and contribute to meeting the performance targets expected of the Building Standards Section.

Whilst the Council wishes to appoint an experienced person competent in carrying out inspections of building work, consideration may however be given to candidates who have limited experience of Building Standards, and appropriate training will be provided in these circumstances. It is also expected that such candidates will undertake study in order to gain a professional qualification. Salary placement and the duties undertaken will be subject to experience and qualification.

Requirements Verifying applications for Building Warrant and Completion Certificate submissions Providing information and advice regarding Building Standards and related matters Contributing to the formulation and implementation of and complying with the objectives, policies and procedures of the Building Standards Section The Individual Significant relevant experience of inspecting buildings during construction and interpreting architectural plans HNC in a surveying, building or equivalent subject Alternatively, consideration will be given to candidates with substantial relevant experience Excellent oral/written communication skills Analytical approach IT Skills Negotiating Skills Self-confident and self-motivated Working knowledge of the Technical Standards You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van Ability to relate well with all levels of staff Willingness to work in a demanding position where a flexible and corporate approach is required Willingness to accept direction/delegation A commitment to deliver quality services to agreed standards Ability to work in an open plan office Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service Ability to work in different offices depending on service requirements

Career Grade 7 - 8: £33,439.90 - £40,527.50 per year *

36.25 hours per week
