We are looking to recruit an Advanced Phlebotomist to expand our team working across Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital and other local community clinics throughout South Essex.

This role is ideally suited for someone who is experienced, caring, friendly and would like to be a part of a team that contributes towards patient care. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work and communicate with a large team across multiple sections.

Main duties of the job

As a Phlebotomist you will be taking blood samples from patients for all our pathology services ensuring correct order of draw, and safe specimen handling using the appropriate PPE.

Providing a venepuncture service to patients and service users at various community health centres and to housebound patients.

To be able to book patients in the phlebotomy clinic software Swiftqueue.

Ensure all tests and precautions associated with blood sample collection are understood.

Maintain a professional appearance and comply with uniform standards.

Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.

Report all incidents and adverse events to senior staff.

Engage with, and contribute to, service development projects.

Any other duties commensurate with the grade and in line with requirements of this post.

Person Specification Qualifications

5 GCSE o levels or equivalent which must include English or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.

Experience

At least 12 months experience as a phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.

Paediatric experience.

Domiciliary experience.

Previous phlebotomy experience in a multifunctional area.
