R&D Supervisor

to support the operational function of the T&D department by supervising the build and safe operation of the test rigs and the effective allocation of its resources. What you will be doing: Supervise the daily operation of the workshop and the safe operation of test rigs. Lead the build and commissioning of new test rigs and equipment. Provide build and test support alongside the technicians and engineers where demand requires it. Ensure software systems are accurately updated and used as defined, along with departmental record keeping and reporting. Coordinate the test schedule with the T&D Test Manager, prioritising work and allocating tasks accordingly ensuring workload is evenly distributed across resources and staff. Proactively input into the development of the department's processes, facilities, and improvements. Mentor and help develop the junior members of the department. Take a lead in Health and Safety and uphold standards within the workshop, contributing to the creation of RAMS and SSOW’s. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Production, Car Build, and NDT departments. Liaise with Production, Car Build, and NDT to provide regular updates on component movements. Contribute to the internal quality processes in relation to ISO90001 accreditation. Take a proactive lead in maintaining the organisation and overall presentation of the T&D facility. Work with the T&D Test Manager on recruitment and appraisal management. Chair and participate in meetings as required, and represent T&D in the absence of the Test Manager. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all test rigs, methodology, and processes within the department. Key skills and knowledge required: Educated to apprenticeship level or equivalent in a relevant mechanical discipline. Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role in a motorsport or test environment. An effective communicator with personnel management skills with the ability to motivate those around you. Ability to demonstrate creative, flexible and innovative solutions to problems. Possess a strong focus and be able to accept challenges from colleagues. Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales. To have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a changing environment. To be self-organised and be capable of managing the workload and development of others. Possess commitment and proven reliability. Be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and versatile. Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues. Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety.
