Long-Term Full Time. TeacherActive is looking to appoint an innovative and inspirational special needs Speech and Language Therapist for a vibrant and inclusive independent specialist school catering to students aged 6-18 with autism spectrum conditions and associated learning difficulties. The successful candidate will require a range of essential skills in delivering a curriculum based on Preparing for Adulthood for young adults with a range of special educational needs. About the Role: As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the communication needs of our students. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will assess, plan, and deliver tailored interventions to enhance our students' social communication and language skills. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the communication needs of students. Develop and implement individual and group therapy plans aligned with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans). Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team to provide holistic support for each student. Offer guidance, resources, and training to staff and families to promote communication strategies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions and progress reports. Participate in review meetings and contribute to EHCP processes. Requirements: A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent). Registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council). Proven experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or specialist setting. Knowledge of autism spectrum conditions and associated communication challenges. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
