Our Lab Services team, based in Hengoed, Wales, is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join our innovative team. The lab services team, operating from laboratories in Hengoed, Wales, United Kingdom, is looking for a dedicated laboratory assistant to join our team. An AB Vista Laboratory Assistant supports the overall running of the laboratory by performing tasks such as: Receiving and shipping of laboratory samples, chemicals, and consumables Sample and buffer preparation for ELISA and analytical chemistry methods Routine checks of laboratory equipment such as balances and pipettes Providing assistance for laboratory technicians and analysts Scanning of animal feedstuffs using Near-infrared spectroscopy Writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Analytical Methods (SAMs) To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with: Interest in chemistry or agricultural sciences Educational background in a field of science or some experience working in a laboratory preferred Strong ability to communicate and work well with a team High attention to detail with the ability to follow both written and verbal technical instructions Ability to multi-task and manage time and priorities wisely Previous experience with Microsoft Suite and SharePoint Physical Requirements: No allergies to animal feedstuff ingredients (e.g., wheat) Ability to work on your feet Ability to handle at least 5L of liquid (approx. 5kg) Location: Our lab is conveniently located, approximately 10 minutes’ walk from Ystrad Mynach rail station and in reasonable driving distance of Caerphilly and Cardiff.
