Lactation Consultant

Responsibilities: Lactation Consultants play a key role in the delivery of the Specialist Infant Feeding Service, overseeing the triage and allocation of referrals received by the service to ensure they are managed effectively and efficiently within their designated locality. This will include providing clinical leadership, overseeing the delivery of clinics providing both virtual and face-to-face care, and liaising with lead professionals and specialist services such as dietetics and tongue-tie services where necessary. Lactation Consultants will provide day-to-day line management of Breastfeeding Assistant Practitioners within their locality, delegating the provision of breastfeeding packages of care appropriately and providing clinical oversight of their work. They will also be responsible for the training and development of Breastfeeding Assistant Practitioners within their team.
