Breast Cancer Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist

This is a secondment opportunity for 9 months to cover maternity leave. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated senior nurse who is passionate about breast cancer to lead and support the development of the secondary breast cancer service at Swansea Bay University health board. Applications for this post are invited from experienced nurses who have had experience in breast cancer/oncology. We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual who is flexible, self-motivated, reliable, a good team player, and a leader. You should also have a degree and be willing to develop your academic and clinical practice. You should uphold excellent communication skills. You will play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit, and the implementation of national guidelines. Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of a well-established dynamic breast multi-disciplinary team who provide specialist advice, holistic care, and support to patients, their relatives, and all members of the health care teams within the hospital. With the support of the team, you will lead and manage a caseload of patients with specialist needs. You will be required to lead, support, develop, and evaluate the breast cancer service to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-disciplinary framework. The role covers a week day specialist service and the post is full time - 37.5 hours per week. Qualifications

Registered Nurse and current NMC Registration Master's Degree or equivalent experience Specialist qualifications Expert level of knowledge in clinical specialty Knowledge of service improvement Non-medical Prescribing (v300) Experience

Experience in the relevant specialty Experience of working in a multi-professional environment Experience of managing a ward area/department Experience of working with pre-registration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role Experience of participating in research Aptitude and abilities

Able to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills Able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when working with others using good communication skills Evidence of undertaking presentations to groups Awareness of professional issues and developments Able to manage time effectively Ability to use electronic systems - IT skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check
