The main duties of the post will include: The post holder will be expected to work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive acute and elective Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service, supporting a sub-specialist interest in the management of skin cancer and the development of a sentinel lymph node biopsy service and Mohs micrographic surgical service. This post will include being a core member of the skin MDT in conjunction with Plastic Surgery, Dermatology and Histopathology. Delivery of outpatient clinics, elective inpatient and day case surgery in Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. Urgent and emergency care duties including out of hours on call working within the provisions of working time regulations and safe working. On call duties are shared with Leeds Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit on a 1:12 rota currently assessed at 1PA. Candidates not wishing to participate on the on call rota will also be considered. Participation in teaching, training and audit, educational and clinical supervision of core trainees and specialist registrars. Provision of advice and support to the clinical team and peers in a range of clinical and/or leadership situations in a professional and appropriate manner which inspires confidence, motivation, and teamwork within the field. This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time or job share applications will be considered. The post has been created to support the existing consultants and specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and to continue to develop the skin cancer service. Whilst the role will be based primarily at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, we provide services at our other hospital sites in Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. The department provides secretarial support and office accommodation.
